Details
The stainless steel version of the Taurus 709 SLIM, combines all of the great features of the standard pistol while adding the corrosion resistance of stainless steel.
In what has become a very popular concealed carry handgun, Taurus has combined the elements of durability, reliability, and affordability into one pistol. The real shocker is that in addition to all of the qualities that make the 709 easy to carry, Taurus has chambered the pistol in 9mm. Rated for +P loads, you get 7+1 rounds of premium self-defense ammo in a small package.
Weighing only 19 ounces, the SLIM feels as good in the hand as it does to carry. While the 9mm can be a handful of thunder in a small pistol, the 709 surprisingly controllable and very accurate. Accuracy is enhanced by the real sights - not those tiny things found on some tiny guns. On the 709, Taurus mounted a fully adjustable set of three-dot sights.
Taurus uses a single-action/double-action system with the 709. This means that the first, and all subsequent shots are single action. However, if a round ever fails to fire (hard primer, etc.), the gun reverts back to double action, giving the shooter a "second strike" capability. Most ammunition that fails to fire the first time will actually fire if the hammer falls a second time. And, pulling the trigger again is a lot quicker than running a "tap-rack-bang' drill.
The 709 features a loaded chamber indicator, and a thumb safety.
The single stack 709 is an excellent concealed carry pistol in a major caliber, and the stainless steel version adds protection to the gun for long term use.
The 709 comes with two 7-round magazines and an integral locking system. Like all of their firearms, Taurus backs this pistol with a lifetime warranty.
