Details

The Model 597™ is easily the most advanced autoloading rimfire rifle ever built, and the most technologically advanced breakthrough in autoloading rimfire rifle technology in 35 years. The difference starts with our proprietary bolt-guidance system, which features a unique set of twin tool-steel guide rails for better stability, feeding reliability and greater out-of-the-box accuracy.

Of course, we didn’t stop there. The bolt, hammer and sear of the Model 597™ all feature an exclusive nickel-Teflon® plating for smooth, dependable operation and an ultra-crisp trigger pull. To assure reliable, long-term accuracy, we’ve also incorporated a unique positive-locking, permanently rigid barrel attachment clamp. Receivers are grooved for standard rimfire mounts and tapped/drilled for Weaver-style bases. Completing the breakthrough design are an innovative last-shot “hold open” magazine feature and our patented, easy-to-use staggered-stack magazine.

I purchased my camo stocked 597 over a year ago and after firing well in excess of 5000 rds through it , I coulnd't be happier. It has a smooth action, very respectable trigger pull and out shoots rifles that cost 3 and 4 times as much. Have never had any jaming or misfires, but then like any responsible shooter, I clean my weapons each time I use them.
*note: I did purchase an aftermarket high capacity magazine that doesn't work as smoothly as factory mag.

I would recomend this rifle to anyone looking for a nice rifle and a bargain price (Posted on 8/26/11)

I purchased my Rem597 with the initial intentions to purchase the 10/22, realizing the price was unjustified in my budget, and was introduced to the 597 , was love at first sight, a secondhand piece with scope, and no iron sights under $140.00 with 10round mag. the look and stockweld of it's larger caliber big brothers, I never thought of owning a .22, but had to purchase one tho be compliant with outdoor range in NJ.

I was pleasantly surprised to experience it's accuracy, and devastating soft clay targets I made, at 70yds. My brother and I were aiming for and shooting the tops off 20oz water bottles, never had a FTF or FTE, cycling over 300 rounds, anyone who had mechanical problems may need to thoroughly clean and maintain their piece. before, during and after might be extreme to some but it's been instilled in me thanks to the Marines! LOL.

In short, unless you are a brand loyalist you can't go wrong with this excellent product from Remington. keep it clean and safe shooting! (Posted on 7/3/11)

I really like the 597 I had to pick between it and a 10/22 the 597 hands down as long as you clean it know feeding problems i have tried 10 brans of bullets even the wores feed thur my 30 round clip no problems after reviewing yhe bad thinks about the 597 I still love it mabey these people dont clean there gun every time i use it even if i only shot 10 shot i at lest clean the bore and every 20 shot brake down the gun and make sure you clean the twin gild rods too very inportant to clean mabye the reson there gun are jaming is because that shot it and for get too are take the time to clean it.I sited my scope in at 100 yard only 4 inch drop with weekest bullet and 3 inchs for the stinger bullets but i perfer 1,275 FPS bullets and above .I must say dam what a plinker 1/4 inch groups at 50 yard so clean your gun and it will perform out standing .thanks and remember keep on shooting 22 cal is the most fun to use Carlostheater@yahoo.com (Posted on 4/9/11)
