Details
Following the huge success of the SR9, Ruger brings us the SR40. The SR40 is perhaps the softest shooting .40 caliber pistol being made due, in part, to a custom slide design.
The frame is a glass-filled nylon, while the slide is through-hardened stainless steel. The backstrap is reversible, allowing the shooter to adjust the size of the pistol to fit his or her hand.
The adjustable three-dot sights are easy to see and use. The safety and mag release are ambidextrous. There is an accessory rail for mounting a light or laser.
The Ruger SR40 ships with two 15-round magazines, a magazine loader, and a hard plastic case.

- Put my Glock's back in the safe. - Review by Mike

Ergonomically, this is one nice gun to hold and shoot. I keep 200 gr. Nosler JHP from Double Tap Ammo in the 4 magazines I have. Recoil is less than my Glock 22. Very accurate out of the box. I will polish the feed ramp and all internals and may put in a Ghost 3.5 lb connector in it. I purchased the black model for $409. which is considerably less than what I paid for a Glock 22. Love the gun and carry it. Purchased Mitch Rosen holster from Ruger's web site when I registered it. Highly recommend this gun. I also have the SR 9. I have read a lot of reviews on the SR40, I fail to see the shortcomings I have seen written by other reviewers. I feel it is a very staightforward very balanced feeling pistol. I have large hands and the Sr40 feels good in my hand, I did change the backstrap to make it fit even better. The pistol felt good before changing the backstrap and I was hesitant to change it but I am glad I did. Great feel got even better. I have run all kinds of different ammo through this thing and it has never once disappointed me, or missed a target for that matter. To sum it all up Ruger got it right, I feel a lot better with more stopping power in my hands. (Posted on 9/3/11)Performance Value Quality
