The American made Smith & Wesson Sigma features an accurate 4" matte finish Stainless Steel slide and barrel with an 18 degree "natural-point grip angle" designed to be a natural extension of your hand making your point of aim ring true. The sigma features no safety to help reduce the chances of it snagging on clothing during the draw and is equipped with a heavier than average trigger pull to reduce the chance of an accidental discharge.

This striker-fired pistol comes with an equipment rail for tactical lights and comes with a 16 round magazine making it ideal for tactical training or home defense.

Since it's founding in 1852, Smith & Wesson have been leaders in innovative firearm technology and continue to this day. Horace Smith and Daniel Wesson's early partnership supplied the U.S. calvary with their early Model 3 American revolver and to this day are a leading supplier for the United States military with a reputation for quality and performance.

The Sigma is not a cheap pistol. It is an old design now and built to a price. The only problem is there are many better pistols out of the box. It is a good but if:

You find one in the $200 dollar range

You are not a beginner

You are willing to fix the trigger (under $30)

You get enough extras to make it worth your troubles

I had one and it never gave me any problems. It was a good gun as long as I wasn't shooting anything else, then I realized how bad the trigger was. Very reliable, light weight and easy to carry. (Posted on 2/4/16)

Let's face it - the Sigma isn't that great of a pistol. It was S&W's first polymer framed gun, and they didn't know what they were doing - to the point that they basically pirated the Glock design and got sued over it. Compared to their newer designs
like the Military & Police (M&P), it isn't that reliable. They still keep it around to sell cheaply. If reliability is important to you, save up and get an M&P... or a Glock. (Posted on 12/14/12)

I am a huge fan of S&W, and I bought my S&W SW9VE the moment I saw it displayed, took it home and took it apart to fully clean it ( it was used ) so I payed only $200.00 for it that was with the box and 2 16 round magazines.
I then went out and got 250 rounds of ammo, I must say I never missed my targets at 20 yards, it was right on the money, it fires just like my Taurus Judge which is a .45/.410 and is just as accurate as my S&W .40
I can just say S&W done it again. (Posted on 12/14/12)

BY NO MEANS AM I A BEGINNER HOWEVER FOR THE PRICE IT DOES THE JOB, BUT BY ALL MEANS "KEEP YOUR GUNS CLEAN " I HAVE BEEN IN THE MILITARY AND THE FASTEST WAY TO RUN THROUGH THE LIFE OF A GUN IS BY FIREING YOUR WEAPON DIRTY OR JUST BEING SLOPPY TREAT YOUR WEAPON WITH RESPECT AND THE LOWEST END FIREARM WILL DO THE JOB AS IF I. WAS PRICELESS ALL IN ALL THUS GUN IS GREAT FOR UNDER 300 BUT DO NOT PAY A CENT OVER THAT THOUGH (Posted on 7/22/11)

This was my first pistol i've owned, its a great value, its a nice size for beginner shooters to get a feel for the basic steps of shooting. one thing i dont like though is lack of safty's this thing will shoot no matter what. only feeding problems ive had is when its dirty itll feed anything if its nice and clean put about 500 through no problems yet, very very easy to field strip and clean, so for a beginner shooter another greaty quality to have, trigger is pretty hard but i think after a few hundred rounds itll lighten up a bit. i paid 300 flat with case 2 clips and a lock so a great deal. so all in all if your looking for a nice pistol under 300 this is the ticket, you can find others that are nicer quality but dont over pay for something if you dont have to, this has everything you need at a low price.. After reading some negative comments regarding the Sigma, I was pleasantly surprised when I received my SW9VE. S&W must have improved later versions of this pistol because it was smooth when I fired it out of the box. The trigger pull is equivalent to a revolver trigger, but clean and smooth. I tore it down to see what it looked like inside and noticed that the parts were well machined and finished. Firing it, the pistol was right on target and I had no glitches. This is a good piece of equipment and very good at this price. (Posted on 1/28/11)

I have owned the S&W 9VE for about a year and have put well over 2000 rounds thru it. This was my first gun purchase and still one of my favorites! It is accurate and reliable. (Posted on 1/27/11)

I own both the 9ve and the 40ve. I've put over 500 rounds through the 9 without any hint of a problem. I've only had the 40 for a couple of weeks but I did get a chance to put 50 rounds through it and it performed flawlessly. If your on the fence about purchasing this weapon, don't be. It is a blast to shoot, very easy to maintain, take down and clean, and priced very reasonable. The trigger pull is a bit long but you get use to it. A great value buy IMHO. (Posted on 1/4/11)
